The biodiesel industry is pleased with EPAs volume obligations under the Renewable Fuel Standard, but will work to get high levels in the final rule. The plan gradually raises biodiesel volumes by about 100 million gallons annually to 1.9 billion gallons in 2017. National Biodiesel Board’s Vice President of Federal Affairs Anne Steckel says while the agency didn’t go backwards with the volumes, improvements need to be made to the final rule.
Steckel says its important biodiesel volumes are even higher in the future and they hope to work with the agency on that.
Steckel says the government doesn’t have to implement any new laws to increase the biodiesel mandates, the can just work with the policy that’s already in place.
