Biodiesel Officials Want Longer Term Tax Extensions

The U.S. House passed a short term tax extenders package including the biodiesel credit on Wednesday. National Biodiesel Board’s Ben Evans says they’re not giving up on a longer term fix.
Evans says without an extension that’s longer than one year the industry doesn’t have enough certainty to be able to go forward with new projects or expanded ones.
Evans says his group is hoping they can convince Senators and other House members to come together to pass a longer term extension. He says their members are in Washington DC this week pushing for that and believe there’s still time to get it done.
The tax extenders legislation includes the biodiesel and wind production tax credits as well as Section 179 deductions, all of which are important for agriculture.
