Nearly 100 biodiesel leaders from across the country are meeting in Washington D.C. this week to work on renewable fuels policy and press Congress to reinstate the biodiesel tax incentive. American Soybean Association President Wade Cowan says the $1 per gallon tax incentive expired on December 31 of 2014. They want it reinstated as a domestic production credit instead of the current blender’s credit.

Cowan says the biodiesel tax credit is included in extender’s legislation, which has several other important components for farmers, including the Section 179 expensing.

He says they’re also working with NBB to push EPA to increase the biodiesel volume levels in the RFS.
The EPA is scheduled to release the RFS volume levels November 30.
