The Senate Finance Committee is expected to take up tax extenders today and included in Chairman Ron Wyden’s mark is the Biodiesel Tax Credit. National Biodiesel Board’s Ben Evans says it involves a two year extension of the dollar per gallon tax credit. He’s encouraged it’s part of the Chairman’s priorities and bodes well for its passage.
Evans says it’s disappointing the credit expired at the beginning of the year and now lawmakers have to pass it again and make it retroactive. He says however that they’re at least making positive movement on it and it should pass based on not only the economic benefits it provides but also its positive impact on the environment.
Evans says he sees good bi partisan backing for the measure in both the Senate and the House.
