Iowa State legislative subcommittees have approved measures to limit eminent domain in the Hawkeye State. Those bills are headed to the government oversight committee next week in their respective chambers. Preservation of Rural Iowa Alliance Founder Carolyn Sheridan says her group backs those measures.

Sheridan says not only is the legislation getting backing from her group and others opposed to the Rock Island Clean Line Energy project but also from those concerned with the Bakken Oil pipeline project that’s being looked at in Iowa.

Sheridan says her group is working hard to enlist more backing for the two bills and will be weighing in when they come up in committee next week.

Sheridan says the two pieces of legislation being considered contain good protections for private property rights.
