Nebraska State Senator Tom Brewer has introduced LB 1054, a measure which would result in stricter regulations for wind farm projects. Under the measure, wind energy companies would have to appear before the Nebraska Power Review Board. Brewer say his bill also gives the public more input into the process.
He says he offered the bill because he’s concerned about large wind operations and their commitment to serving Nebraskans.
Brewer also says the wind industry is at full capacity in Nebraska and there’s no need for any more projects.
Brewer anticipates a close vote in Committee on his legislation. However, he says if he can get the bill to the Senate floor, it has a good chance of passage.
