A bill that would have included state legislators in the annual pay raise for state employees was in front of the Senate Local Government Committee today.
One of the bill sponsors, Representative Jim Bolin of Canton says legislators would have gotten a small raise under the current proposal.
Senator Craig Tiezen of Rapid City says if it is important to lawmakers, they should be ready to vote for it.
Tiezen says legislators should be able to vote directly on their own pay.
The bill, which had passed in the House, and had bi-partisan sponsorship, was sent to the forty first day, effectively killing it.
