The South Dakota House State Affairs Committee passed out a bill that would declare void the transgender policy of the South Dakota High School Activities Association.
That body had passed a rule last summer that would let trans-gender self-declare for sports participation.
Bill sponsor Representative Jim Bolin of Canton says it was a major adjustment.

Bolin says the activities association is in effect, attempting to rewrite state law.

Kendra Heathscott of Sioux Falls, who says she is an out trans-gender female, spoke against passage of the bill.

The bill moved out of committee with a do pass recommendation on a ten to two vote. It now heads to the House floor.
