A bill is moving forward at the Minnesota State Capitol that would eliminate the “voluntary relationship” defense–or marital rape exception–in the state’s criminal sexual conduct statute

Democratic State Representative Zack Stephenson of Coon Rapids authored the bill. The measure was passed in the House and Senate last year but was vetoed as part of a larger package of bills.
