A bill that would force South Dakota legislators to be drug tested passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday.

Bill sponsor, Senator Neal Tapio of Watertown says it is a matter of setting an example….

Representative Tim Goodwin of Rapid City, who sponsored a similar bill in the House, says he hasn’t seen or heard of any illegal drug abuse……

Senator Art Rusch of Vermillion says the bill could be a bad first step……

The bill passed out of the committee on a four to three vote, and moved to the Senate floor.
