The House has approved legislation and sent to the Senate a measure to make tax code changes permanent for farmers and ranchers. South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal is pleased with the approval and says it’s something his group has been seeking for some time.
He says one major component the House is calling for making permanent is the 20 percent business tax deduction. VanderWal says that’s important for farmers and ranchers.
VanderWal thinks the legislation the House sent over likely won’t get voted on until the lame duck session of Congress when lawmakers will have several issues on their plate.
VanderWal says having those tax code changes permanent helps give producers certainty going forward.
