Early numbers indicate more than twenty-nine thousand people attended Pheasant Fest this weekend in Sioux Falls.
It was the first time the national event has been held in South Dakota, and Governor Dennis Daugaard says the sponsors were nervous…..

During his appearance at the Fest, the Governor said the state needs about one point five million acres of wildlife habitat……

While Conservation Reserve Program acres are set by the US Department of Agriculture, Daugaard says the state can make the case for expansion……

In 2016, state landowners had about nine hundred seventy thousand acres in the CRP program.
