Nationally ranked Nebraska and Iowa were winners while Minnesota was upset in Thursday night’s Big 10 women’s basketball action.
Tear’a Laudermill and Emily Cady combined for 34 of their 43 points in the first half on Thursday to lead No. 16 Nebraska to an 89-72 win over Wisconsin.
Laudermill had 18 of her 24 points and Cady 16 of her 19 as the Cornhuskers (15-3, 5-2 Big Ten) shot 62 percent in the first half for a 53-31 lead.
Melissa Dixon scored 12 of her 16 points in the second half and all five starters scored in double figures on Thursday in No. 20 Iowa’s 76-70 win over Michigan.
Samantha Logic had 13 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (15-3, 6-1 Big Ten), who won their fourth straight and improved to 11-0 at home. Ally Disterhoft added 14 points, Bethany Doolittle 13 and Whitney Jennings 12.
— Whitney Bays scored 25 points, including the game-winning jumper with 3.4 seconds left in overtime, to give the Purdue women a 90-88 upset over No. 21 Minnesota on Thursday.
The Boilermakers (10-9, 3-5 Big Ten) led 79-75 with 1:54 left in regulation, but Shae Kelley had a free throw and a three-point play for Minnesota (16-3, 5-2) to force the extra period.
