The Nebraska Department of Transportation has awarded a $5,595,492 contract to Dixon Construction Co. of Correctionville, Iowa, to begin replacement of the N-121 bridge south of Yankton, just west of US-81. The Gavins Point East project is the final bridge reconstruction contract to be awarded as a result of damage sustained from the March 2019 flooding event.

Work on the replacement bridge is anticipated to begin August 12 with the highway remaining closed until the bridge construction is completed. The bridge is anticipated to be opened to traffic on December 31, and the remaining work will be done in 2020 to complete the project.

Motorists are reminded to use caution while driving through selected alternate routes and to expect delays.
