Heralded Twins prospect Jose Berrios is getting called up to the majors and will make his debut Wednesday night against the Cleveland Indians.

Minnesota is bringing up Berrios after putting right-handers Ervin Santana and Kyle Gibson on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday. The Twins announced Berrios as Wednesday’s starter following a 6-5 win Tuesday night.

Twins general manager Terry Ryan says it “isn’t pre-determined on how many starts he’s going to get, by any stretch.”

The 21-year-old Berrios is one of the top pitching prospects in baseball and one of Minnesota’s best along with outfielder Byron Buxton. The 2012 first-rounder was sent back to Triple-A to work on his command this season, and Ryan is pleased with his progress. He is 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings with Rochester.
