The Five Nation Beef Alliance added two new countries at their meeting in Mexico last week. The organization includes cattle groups from five major beef producing countries, including the U.S. and Canada. Canadian Cattlemen Association’s John Masswohl says the group voted to include two new South American cattle groups in the Alliance.

Masswohl says besides Alliance members also talked about trade, sustainability and animal health issues common to the group.

He says all Alliance members share the same core principal including that decisions effecting agriculture and trade should be science based.

In addition to the U.S. and Canada, the original Alliance included cattle groups from Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.
