Battle Brewing Over School Budget Shortfalls in Minnesota Legislature

A battle is brewing at the Minnesota legislature over the Dayton administration’s plan for $138 million in one-time emergency funding to help schools statewide cover budget shortfalls. Republican Representative Jenifer Loon of Eden Prairie says she’s not sure where the money would come from

Education Commissioner Brenda Casselius disagrees and says schools need the money.

Loon calls the governor’s proposal a “band-aid” but she’s not ruling out trying to find solutions for school districts that are struggling.
