Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli won the American League Manager of the Year Award in a tight ballot over Aaron Boone of the New York Yankees.
Both received 13 first-place votes, but Baldelli got more second-place nods. The 38-year-old is the youngest to win the award.
Baldelli led the Twins to their first American League Central division title since 2010 with a record of 101-61. Baldelli becomes the fourth manager in club history to win the award, joining Tom Kelly (1991), Ron Gardenhire (2010) and Paul Molitor (2017).
Mike Shildt of the St. Louis Cardinals has been voted NL Manager of the Year.
