Officials reported Wednesday that a second turkey flock with avian flu was detected in Brown County; Meeker County logged its 10th infestation, and Kandiyohi county its 37th– making it the hardest hit in Minnesota.  So far, 97 farms in 22 counties have been affected, totaling over eight million birds.

Hahn says officials are hoping avian flu acts like other viruses and tapers off when the weather gets warmer– but she says there’s a lot scientists don’t know about the disease that’s decimated nearly a hundred flocks in Minnesota.
