Avera Health Project Aimed at Opioid Epidemic

Avera Health is starting a new project aimed at getting ahead of the opioid epidemic, which has hit hard in some rural areas of the country.

Former Avera Behavioral Health Services Vice President Steve Lindquist is returning to head up the one year, grant funded program….

While drug abuse is involved, Lindquist says much of that is tied to behaviors…

The program is funded through a one-year grant from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration.
Lindquist says the program will continue beyond the startup..

Lindquist says this program will fit with the expansion of behavioral health services through the Avera Health system.
