The long time President and C.E.O. of Avera Health, John Porter says he will retire next year.
Porter has spent forty four years with the system, and was involved with the two religious orders that came together to form Avera……

Porter says they whole system grew far beyond their initial vision…..

Avera Health is now the largest employer in South Dakota, with over seventeen thousand employees.
Porter says he wants to step back, and spend more time with his family….

Porter will stay on as President until next December, or until a successor is named.
