Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman has signed a bill that requires some health insurance plans to cover screenings and therapy to children with autism. Melissa Schop is a spokesperson with the Autism Society of Nebraska and says lack of coverage has taken a toll on many families here and their children.
Schop says while this step is worth celebrating there is still a lot of work yet to do.
Schop says about 20% of certain state regulated plans will now provide the coverage.
