Augustana is the top athletics program in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for the third time in the last six years.

Augustana earned the 2014-15 NSIC/US Bank All-Sports Award with 184 points, the conference office announced Tuesday.   Minnesota State finished second with 176.5 points, Winona State placed third with 125.5.

Augustana won six regular season NSIC Championships in 2014-15, including men’s and women’s cross country, women’s golf, softball, women’s tennis and men’s basketball. Augustana had 12 of its 17 NSIC-sponsored sports reach the NCAA Tournament in 2014-15.

The Vikings performed well in other conference sports in which they did not win a championship. Men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, women’s indoor track and field, wrestling and soccer each placed second, Baseball delivered a third-place finish while men’s indoor track and field placed fourth. Football, women’s basketball and men’s golf each finished fifth. Volleyball placed eighth.   Since joining the NSIC in 2008-09, Augustana has never finished lower than second. Augustana has won three NSIC All-Sports Awards. To view the Vikings year-by-year finishes in the NSIC/US Bank All-Sports Award, click HERE.   The NSIC/US Bank All-Sports Award is calculated by awarding the winner of each conference-sponsored championship points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level result in the totaling of points and equal distribution. Indoor and outdoor track and field are computed at half the total points as listed in the previous mentioned categories.
