Top performers in Northern Sun Conference baseball and softball last week included a pair of Augustana athletes.
Augustana baseball’s junior right-handed pitcher Jacob Blank has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday for the second time this season.
The Gretna, Neb. native was unhittable Saturday afternoon as he no-hit Minnesota Duluth in a 2-0 victory. Blank’s no-hitter was the eighth in Augustana history and the first since April of 2013.
Augustana University senior shortstop Sarah Kennedy was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference softball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
This is the second straight week and third time this season Kennedy has been named NSIC Player of the Week. A native of Bettendorf, Iowa, Kennedy continues to tear the cover off the ball for the Vikings. In six games last week, Kennedy batted .652 with 15 hits, including seven doubles and a home run. She also drove in eight runs and scored eight while compiling a 1.087 slugging percentage and a .692 on-base percentage.
