Augustana Cagers Move Up

The Augustana College men’s basketball team moved up five spots and is now ranked No. 13 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Top 25 Poll.

The Vikings spent the last two weeks at No. 18 in the top 25 poll.

Augustana closed-out the 2014 calendar year on Saturday, Dec. 20, with a 93-75 win over Wayne State. The Vikings are the highest of three ranked NSIC teams in this week’s poll. MSU Moorhead is ranked 14th while Minnesota State dropped to No. 16.

West Liberty earned the No. 1 spot in the poll for the fifth straight week. Florida Southern remains at No. 2 followed by Colorado-Colorado Springs, Tarleton State and Lincoln Memorial rounding-out the top five.

The Vikings have spent five weeks in the NABC Top 25 Poll. Augustana received votes in the preseason poll before entering the rankings at No. 19 in the first regular season release. Augustana jumped to No. 11 before spending two weeks at No. 18.

Augustana returns to action this Friday and Saturday with a pair of NSIC road contests. The Vikings open the weekend taking on USF at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2.
