Augustana earned the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) All-Sports Award for the third straight season, and the fifth time in the past seven years, as the Vikings amassed 180 points to finish two points ahead of second place Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Augustana has now earned the all-sports award in 2010-11, 2011-12, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 as it joins Minnesota State, Winona State and Minnesota Duluth as the only other institutions to earn the award in its 18-year history. The Vikings will be presented their award on Tuesday, July 11 at the NSIC Hall of Fame Banquet in Burnsville, Minnesota.
Augustana won three regular-season titles during the 2016-17 academic year, including men’s cross country, women’s golf and tennis. Minnesota State had another solid year, scoring 178 points, to finish second after winning six regular season titles. The Mavericks took home the hardware in baseball, men’s golf, men’s indoor and outdoor track & field, women’s indoor track & field and softball.
Winona State finished in third place with 127 points after winning the women’s outdoor track & field crown, while UMD was fourth with 119.25 points. St. Cloud State was fifth with 1188 points after winning the wrestling championship.
