The 2016 NSIC/Sanford Health Men’s Basketball Tournament bracket has been released as the 22-game regular season ended Saturday night.
Augustana (24-2, 21-1 NSIC) won the NSIC Overall and South Division Championships and will be the top seed in the south division. MSU Moorhead (27-4, 19-3 NSIC) earned the No. 1 seed in the north division.
Upper Iowa earned the fourth seed in the south division over Sioux Falls via the fourth tiebreaker (Point rating system – divisional games only). St. Cloud State earned the fifth seed in the north over Minot State via the third tie-breaker (head to head competition of descending divisional teams) as both teams were swept by MSU Moorhead, but the Huskies split the season series with Northern State while Minot State was swept by the Wolves.
The top four seeds in each division will host the 5-8 seeds from the opposite division on Wednesday, February 24. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will take place on February 27, 29 and March 1 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
