The NCAA has announced the eight teams that will compete at the central region men’s basketball tournament and the NSIC will have three teams continuing their seasons. Augustana, MSU Moorhead and Minnesota State each earned a spot in the NCAA post-season tournament.
Augustana (28-2) earned the top seed and will host the regional tournament at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on March 12-13, 15. They will take on Harding (20-10) of the Great American Conference in the first round. MSU Moorhead (30-5) was the third seed and will take on sixth seeded Minnesota State (21-9). In other first round action, fourth seeded Nebraska-Kearney will battle in-conference rival and fifth seeded Fort Hays State while second seeded Northwest Missouri State (25-5) of the MIAA will take on Ouachita Baptist (19-13) of the GAC in the opening round.
Augustana (NSIC), Northwest Missouri State (MIAA) and Ouachita Baptist (GAC) each earned automatic bids to the NCAA Central Region Tournament with their conference tournament championships. The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the NCAA Central Region again this year.
The NCAA Elite 8 will take place on March 23-24 and 26 at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.
