Augie Sweeps NSIC POY Awards

Augustana basketball teams provided both the men’s and women’s Player of the Year honorees from the Northern Sun Conference.

Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams the league announced on Thursday.

Daniel Jansen was named the NSIC Co-Player of the Year and was named All-NSIC First Team. Casey Schilling earned defensive player of the year and first team honors while Jordan Spencer took home NSIC Freshman of the Year and second team honors.  Junior forward Alex Richter was named All-NSIC First Team in 2014-15.

– Augustana’s women’s basketball had two players receive All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference honors for the 2014-15 season in a release by the league on Thursday.

Shaunteva Ashley and Logan O’Farrell each earned All-NSIC honors for their great play this year. Ashley, an All-NSIC first team selection for a second straight year, was also named the NSIC Player of the Year, becoming the first Vikings’ player to win the award since the team joined the league back in 2008. The senior also made the NSIC’s All-Defensive team for her aggressive style on that end of the floor that led to lot of steals. O’Farrell was recognized for her stellar play during her freshman season, being selected to the NSIC All-Freshman team.
