The National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association announced on Wednesday afternoon that Augustana senior pitcher/utility player Jenelle Trautmann has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week.

Trautmann, who was also named the NSIC’s Player of the Week on Monday, had a huge week at the plate, batting .737 with 14 hits, including three doubles and four home runs, compiling a 1.526 slugging percentage. She also walked three times and was hit by a pitch compiling a .783 on-base percentage. Her 14 RBI topped the NSIC last week, while her 14 hits, four home runs and 29 total bases were tied for the best in the league. Teammates Sarah Kennedy and Caitlin Nichol both hit four home runs last week as well. Kennedy also hit three doubles and batted .609, while Nichol added four doubles and hit .550 in six games.

She opened the week going 2 for 2 with two doubles and an RBI in a 10-0 win over USF. In the second game against the Cougars, Trautmann went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Trautmann opened the weekend going 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBI in a 14-2 win over Minnesota Crookston on Saturday. She went 2 for 4 with two singles in game two against the Golden Eagles. She opened the Bemidji State series going 2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBI before closing-out the weekend with a 3 for 3 performance with a home run and a career-high tying five RBI in the nightcap against the Beavers.

In addition, she was 3-0 with a save and allowed two run in four appearances (three starts). She struck out 25, walked one and allowed nine hits in 15 innings. She pitched a total of seven innings against Sioux Falls picking up a win with a one-hit (nine strikeouts) five-inning shutout in the opener and closing out the final three innings of the nightcap with a hitless, six-strikeout effort to earn the save. Trautmann also tallied league wins over league foes Minnesota-Crookston and Bemidji State over the weekend.

Trautmann tied her own single season record with 19 home runs this season and has now hit 74 in her career. She is just one home run shy of moving into a tie for second all-time in NCAA Division II history and five away from tying the all-time NCAA Division II record.
