For the second consecutive week, an Augustana women’s tennis player was named
Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference player of the week.Senior Katie
Jesperson earned the honor on Monday afternoon.

Hailing from Elk River, Minn., Jesperson owns a perfect
singles and doubles record on the season, adding two more wins in each category
this past weekend. Behind Jesperson’s stellar play, Augustana improved to 5-0,
4-0 in the NSIC, with a 9-0 win over Minnesota State and an 8-1 victory against
University of Mary.

Ranked No. 5 in the latest ITA Central Region
singles rankings, Augustana’s top singles player rolled to two straight-set
victories, allowing her opponents to win a combined four games in as many sets.
Jesperson opened the Saturday doubleheader with a 6-0, 4-1 win against MSU then
cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win against host U-Mary.
