Augustana senior wide receiver Jason Greenway has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Special Teams Player of the Week the league announced Tuesday.
Greenway, a senior from Mitchell, S.D., set an Augustana school record with a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown in Saturday night’s 35-14 win over Bemidji State. Greenway returned two kicks in the game for a total of 119 yards and broke the school record that stood since 1993 with the 100-yard kick return.
Greenway broke the record nearly 22-years years to the date. The previous record was set by Keith Harper on Sept. 4, 1993.
The kickoff return for a touchdown was the first by a Viking since Grant Gebhardt returned one 92-yards for a score against Winona State on Nov. 3, 2012.
Augustana opened the 2015 season with a 35-14 win over Bemidji State and will host St. Cloud State this Saturday in its home opener. Kickoff for the 2015 home-opener for the Vikings is set for 1 p.m. at Kirkeby-Over Stadium.
