Augustana junior forward Daniel Jansen averaged 31.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in two wins last weekend to earn Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division Player of the Week honors for the third time this season.

Jansen, a 6-foot-9 forward from Orange City, Iowa, led No. 4 Augustana to a 98-78 home win over Northern State Friday and a 97-80 win against No. 6 MSU Moorhead on Saturday. Jansen averaged 31.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 58 percent from the field. He also hit 62.5 percent from 3-point range, knocking down 10 of 16 from behind the arc.

Jansen opened the weekend scoring 35 points and grabbing six rebounds while drilling a career-high six 3-pointers in the win over Northern State. He was 10-of-15 from the field, 6 of 8 from three-point range while hitting 9 of 10 free throws. Jansen followed up that performance with 28 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a victory over MSU Moorhead on Saturday. Jansen registered his fifth double-double of the season (13th career) in the victory.

Augustana has had the NSIC’s South Division Player of the Week six times this season. Jansen has now earned the award three times to go along with Casey Schilling’s three player of the week awards this season.

Augustana men’s basketball has won a program record 16 straight games and is one win shy of tying the single season wins record. The Vikings are 23-1 on the season, including 17-1 in NSIC play, marking the most conference wins in a season in program history.

The fourth-ranked Vikings will play its final regular season home games this weekend hosting Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls on Friday and Saturday. Augustana opens the weekend against SMSU at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, before taking on USF at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
