For the second straight week, Augustana College men’s basketball is ranked No. 2 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

The top three spots from last week’s poll went unchanged with Florida Southern earning 15 first-place votes and the No. 1 spot for the second straight week, followed by the Vikings at No. 2 with one first-place vote.

Bellarmine remained at No. 3, followed by Barry in fourth and Lincoln Memorial in fifth. Augustana is one of two NSIC schools in this week’s poll with MSU Moorhead being ranked No. 8.

The No. 2 ranking for Augustana is the highest in program history and highest since being ranked third on Jan. 11, 1988.

Augustana has now spent 12 straight weeks in the top 25, its longest stretch in program history.

The Vikings have won a single season record 25 games this season and sit at 25-1 (19-1 NSIC) entering the final weekend of the regular season. Augustana is searching for its first conference championship since 1988-89 when the Vikings hit the road for a pair of games this Friday and Saturday.

A win on Friday night would clinch at least a share of the NSIC title. A weekend sweep would give the Vikings the outright NSIC Championship.
