The Augustana College men’s basketball team moved up one more spot and is now ranked No. 4 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll.

The Vikings made the jump into the top five last week, marking its first appearance in the top five since Jan. 25, 1988.

Augustana’s highest ever ranking in the NABC Top 25 Poll was No. 3 on Jan. 11, 1988.

Augustana has a couple of big games set at the Sioux Falls Arena this Friday and Saturday, including a match-up against No. 6 MSU Moorhead on Saturday. Augustana and MSU Moorhead are the only two NSIC teams ranked in this week’s top 25 poll.

Lincoln Memorial earned 14 first-place votes and took over the No. 1 spot in this week’s poll. Florida Southern and Barry each earned a first-place vote and are ranked second and third, respectively. Augustana is fourth, followed by Bellarmine who rounds-out the top five.

Augustana has now spent 10 straight weeks in the NABC Top 25 Poll. The Vikings received votes in the preseason poll before entering the rankings at No. 19 in the first regular season release. Since then, the Vikings have been ranked 11th, 18th, 13th, 12th, ninth and sixth before cracking the top five last week.
