Augustana University senior left-handed pitcher Carley Pickett has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Pickett, a senior from Maplewood, Minn., compiled a 4-0 record and a save while allowing just two earned runs for a 0.58 ERA in five appearances. She tossed two complete game shutouts and struck out 23 batters in 24 innings pitched
. Pickett opened the week with a three-hit shutout in an 8-0 win over USF in which she struck out for batters. She earned a save in game two at USF tossing three innings and striking out one. Against Bemidji State on Saturday, Pickett carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning and finished the game with a career-high 11 strikeouts in a 3-0 win. She finished the game allowing just one hit and one walk. She earned her 16th win of the season in game two against BSU tossing two innings while striking out one and allowing one hit. On Sunday, She improved to 17-6 in a 7-3 win over Minnesota Crookston. She held UMC to no runs on three hits while striking out six. This is the first time in her career that Pickett has been named Pitcher of the Week by the NSIC. She is the second from Augustana to earn a weekly honor from the NSIC this season. Shannon Petersen was named Player of the Week by the NSIC on Feb. 10. Augustana went 6-0 last week and enters this week at the top of the NSIC standings. The Vikings are 28-11 on the season, including 15-2 in conference play.
