The Augustana University women’s golf team had their season come to an end Saturday in the final round of the NCAA Division II National Championship in Aurora, Colorado.
Augustana finished the four day event with a score of 79-over par 1231 and earning a 10th place finish. The NCAA Divison II Women’s Golf National Championship was being held in conjunction with the 2016 NCAA Division II National Championships Fall Festival.
The Vikings entered the final day of competition in 10th place out of 12 teams but struggled for much of the day, shooting a 13-over par 322 on Saturday. The Vikings had built enough of a lead between themselves, West Texas A&M and Missouri Western State to stay in the top-10 at the championship event.
Rollins College was the overall champion with a final score of 21-over par 1173. They were followed by the University of Indianapolis, Nova Southeastern, St. Leo and Grand Valley State to round out the top-5. Gabrielle Shipley of GVSU was the individual champion with a final score of 6-under par 282. Only three individuals finished the event under par.
