Augustana University senior basketball student-athletes Daniel Jansen and Casey Schilling have been named to the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association All-America Team.
Augustana is the only school in the country with more than one player on the D2CCA All-America Team. Jansen was named to the First Team, Schilling earned third team honors.
The D2CCA All-America Team was formerly named the Daktronics All-America Team. Jansen was a second team selection last season, Schilling earned honorable mention honors.
The D2CCA Men’s Basketball All-America team was voted on by the NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors from institutions and conferences.
Jansen, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound forward from Orange City, Iowa, is averaging 20.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. He was named the NSIC’s Player of the Year for the second straight season in 2015-16 and earned his third straight All-NSIC First Team honor. He has set a new single season scoring mark in 2015-16 with 683 points and has scored in double-digits in 31 of 33 games this season, including 20-plus points 18 times. Jansen became Augustana’s all-time leading scorer this season and currently has scored 2,217 career points. He also became the NSIC’s all-time leading scorer in 2015-16 having scored 1,521 points in 88 career conference games. Jansen also ranks fifth all-time at Augustana with 845 career rebounds. Jansen is one of just five active players in Division II (11 in all of NCAA basketball) with 2,000-plus career points and 600-plus career rebounds.
Schilling, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound forward from Ellsworth, Minn., is averaging 19.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocks per game. Schilling is shooting 54.4 percent from the field and recently moved up to second all-time in scoring at Augustana. He has scored 2,000 points in his career and enters the week ranked third all-time at Augustana with 959 career rebounds. He is one of just three players in program history with 900-plus rebounds and has the second most rebounds of all active players in Division II. Schilling is one of just five active players in Division II (11 in all of NCAA basketball) with 2,000-plus career points and 600-plus career rebounds. Schilling has been named All-NSIC First Team in three straight seasons and was named the Defensive Player of the Year by the NSIC’s coaches for the second straight season in 2015-16.
Augustana earned the No. 2 seed and will make its first Elite Eight appearance in program history on Wednesday, March 23, taking on No. 7 seed Tarleton State at 6 p.m. at Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.
