Augustana used some heavy hitting to score postseason victories Thursday in both baseball and softball.

Things did not look good early for top-seeded Augustana, but the defending national champions battled back from a 6-0 hole to defeat No. 8 seed Oklahoma Baptist 12-10 in the Central Region Baseball Tournament in Sioux Falls.

The win boosts the Vikings record to 41-14, and they advance in the winners bracket to play Arkansas-Monticello on Friday at 11 a.m., while the loss drops the Bison to 33-20, and sends them to an elimination game against No. 4 seed Minnesota State on Friday at 2:30 p.m.

Taking the diamond in game one of the NCAA DII Super Regionals, the No. 15 Augustana softball team showed off their bats, slugging their way to a 13-5 (5 inn.) win over No. 1 Central Oklahoma. The Vikings are now one win away from their first Women’s College World Series berth since 2012.

The Vikings and Bronchos now play game two of Super Regionals, set for Friday at 4 p.m. If the Vikings drop game two, there will be a winner-take-all game, starting 30 minutes after game two.
