Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot attempted to suspend the rules in the state Senate yesterday, in an attempt to make a change to the just passed school funding bill.

An amendment was added to HB1182 in the House that drops the two year enrollment averaging that schools have been using under the old funding formula.
Frerichs says that will cost many schools a lot of money….

Frerichs says the amendment is another challenge for school districts in managing their budgets…..

Senator Corey Brown of Gettysburg was concerned about the costs of the change, which were not contained in the new budget….

The attempt to suspend the rules to debate the amendment failed on a vote of twenty to thirteen.
Legislators then wrapped up the final day of the 2016 session.
