One person has died in a one-vehicle crash that occurred two miles east of Mitchell.

The name of the 28-year-old male victim is not being released pending notification of family members.

A 2008 Chrysler Town and County Van was eastbound on 250th Street when the vehicle eventually entered the south ditch, went through a barbed wire fence and into the James River. The time and date of the crash are still under investigation.

Authorities Wednesday morning recovered a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Van. A short time later, the body of a male was found along the river’s west shore about a quarter of a mile away.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The search continues for more possible vehicle occupants.
