The U.S. Department of Agriculture is moving ahead with a select trade aid provision in buying U.S. lamb products. The Ag Marketing Service recently announced the food purchases of up to $17 million of American lamb. American Sheep Industry Association Executive Director Peter Orwick is pleased the USDA is going forward with that to help producers.

Orwick says while it’s the aid is helpful for lamb producers, the wool side of their industry also needs some help

He says they’re looking at getting new export inroads into both Egypt and Eastern Europe.

Orwick also says Vietnam might be a potential market for American wool.
