United States soybean growers are working with the Trump administration in hopes of forging new trade deals. American Soybean Association President Bill Gordon says while there’s been a lot of talk lately about a pact with the European Union and the United Kingdom, his group is now focusing on India.
He says it would be more beneficial for U.S. soybean farmers to have India purchase U.S. poultry that’s been fed soybean meal.
Gordon isn’t too concerned President Trump came back after visiting India with no agreement in hand. He says there’s still an opportunity to work out a trade pact with them and notes it takes time to forge beneficial trade deals.
Gordon says as far as the E.U. and United Kingdom go, getting a trade pact worked out with the U.K..first would likely help set up a future agreement with the Europeans.
