Leaders of both the American Soybean Association and National Corn Grower’s are hailing EPA’s approval for registration of Enlist Duo Herbicide. ASA President and Iowa farmer Ray Gaesser says the product is an important tool for producers in dealing with resistant weeds.
The approval is initially for six states including South Dakota and Iowa and comments are being taken until November 14 for approval in ten additional states. Gaesser says environmental concerns over Enlist Duo are unfounded and the product and use of it is safer than it was for earlier products with farmers better equipped to use it.
Gaesser is calling upon foreign markets where U.S. soybeans are exported to quickly review and approve these new biotech events so that they can be commercialized here in the U.S. without jeopardizing export markets.
