American Soybean Association Leaders are urging the House Budget Committee not to cut the farm bill any further when considering a budget reconciliation measure. ASA President Wade Cowan says farm programs have already taken their share of most of the cuts for the past several years.
Cowan also echoes the call from Ag Committee leaders in protecting the farm bill framework and especially on protecting cuts to crop insurance which is the only safety net farmers have.
Cowan says ASA leaders are also asking the Budget Committee to take into account the importance of conservation and trade programs and how they help farmers achieve goals of cleaner soils, water and air and healthy foreign markets.
