This week, 44 members of Congress asked U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer to restore preferential trade treatment for India. American Soybean Association Vice President and Minnesota grower Bill Gordon is hopeful that restoration will occur as India is a great future growth market for U.S. soybeans.
He says their appetite for protein is also growing which makes them an important market destination for U.S. agricultural products.
Gordon says the U.S. has a major advantage over our competitors for markets like India as well as other nations in that we’re a very reliable supplier that can get exports out in a timely fashion.
In their letter sent to the USTR, the 44 members of Congress noted that a lot of American jobs depend on trade between India and the United States.
