President Donald Trump has indicated trade negotiations between the U.S. and China are making progress. This is ahead of a face-to-face mid-level meeting between the two countries on January 7. That’s encouraging to American Soybean Association Vice President and Minnesota farmer Bill Gordon.
He says farmers have been suffering from both the tariff retaliation and low commodity prices and could use some good news.
Gordon says the Trump administration’s cease fire on tariffs until March 1 is also productive in giving the leaders time to resolve the trade war and strike an agreement.
The negative impacts of the trade war have been felt in the U.S., China and throughout the global economy.
