Trump administration officials are talking positively about China’s commitments in its Phase One Trade Deal with the United States. U.S. Trade Representative Robert LIghtizer says the Chinese are working to expand access for U.S. producers. American Soybean Association President Bill Gordon who farms near Worthington, Minnesota shares that optimism.

He says the USTR and other administration officials have done a great job in forging this agreement and even though some of the demand may be down due to the pandemic, the future is bright for America’s business with China.

Gordon says the recent U.S. shipment of ethanol to China along with that Asian nation wanting to improve its own air quality is another sign trade efforts are loosening up and looking positive for the future.

Gordon says China remains an important market for U.S. soybean growers and their USSEC (u.s. soybean export council) group is continuing to work on other market possibilities.
