The White House is considering more tariffs on China doubling the proposed tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods to 25%. American Soybean Association President and Iowa farmer John Heisdorffer says part of the answer to any escalation of the trade war is to get more trade agreements completed.

He says the Trump administration also needs to get some bilateral deals put together with the countries that are involved in the Trans Pacific Partnership as well as finish up the North American Free Trade Agreement re negotiations.

Heisdorffer saying all the tariff talk is creating a volatile market situation for soybean growers, up one day, down the next.

The tariff hike consideration came as talks between China and the United States stalled and Washington is looking for additional leverage
