President Trump has nominated Ted McKinney for Under Secretary for Trade and Dr. Sam Clovis as Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics at USDA. American Soybean Association President Ron Moore says both are good choices for those jobs.

He says these nominations have been a long time coming and he’s hoping the Senate will move swiftly on the confirmations.

Moore says it’s important to get McKinney confirmed to work on all the bilateral trade deals the Trump administration is focusing on. He says with Congress writing a new farm bill it’s also critical to get Clovis in place to help with that.

While McKinney’s experience has been as Indiana’s Director of Agriculture, Clovis was a Trump campaign advisor before serving on the USDA transition team.
